On the bright side, my wife pointed out that my showers are a lot shorter when this happens, and then it also occurred to me that we save a lot of water that way, too ...

It can be vexing also trying to figure out why it goes out.
Um, this is why I always test the temperature of the water before I get in. You might consider doing the same :)
